Land of Giants
The colors of AZ influenced this painting of a landscape of another realm. My paintings inspire my poems and the poems tell the story of the painting. I would appreciate it if this poem could be displayed with this painting if possible:
Land of Giants
Far
far away
in a distant galaxy
beyond time
we trees stood tall
taller than
the tallest mountain.
A forest of giants
we pierced
through clouds
into a canopy
of cobalt blue.
We watched
over our land
our tribes
our animals
sheltering them
loving them with
all our hearts.
We were their
protectors
honored to be
of service.
Invasions from
other worldly entities
came, cut us down
for no reason.
Without us
our world
changed,
winds
rain
eroded
once fertile land.
Our tribes
disappeared,
animals too.
Those of us
who remained
standing
turned to stone,
our souls
trapped inside.
Giant granite
boulders
our only
companions.
Together
we pined for
our glorious past
praying for
a bright future.
